Organizational & Infrastructure:
- Became a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
- Completed our first full year with an elected board and self-managed finances.
- Received $300 in donations from individuals.
Outreach:
- Hosted 9th Annual New Horizons in Lactation Conference, with 82 attendees.
- Conference topic this year: Improving Lactation Care Through Cultural Awareness
- Created the curriculum for the day, bringing together speakers + panelists.
- Sponsors included: Pregnancy Aid-WIC, Providence Medical Center, Pacific Wellness & Lactation, and PEPS.
- Sponsorships covered the costs of our presenters and enabled us to provide lunch to all attendees.
Employer Recognition Program:
- 3rd year of program
- Sustained growth in the program: from 7 employers recognized in 2017, 11 employers recognized in 2018, and 11 employers recognized in 2019
- Distributed survey in English and Spanish.
- Received 35 submissions addressing 16 employers.
- Thanks to Lisa and Brandi for spearheading the project again this year.
Journal Club:
- 2nd year of program
- Continued meeting monthly (2nd Wednesday of the month)
- Attendance has continued to grow — November’s meeting was the most crowded yet!
- Hosted at Pacific Wellness & Lactation – Thanks to BreAnne and Jennifer for hosting.
- Topics this year included: Milk Sharing, Formula Use, Tongue Tie, and a very popular, hands-on “Lactation Product Review.”
Meetings:
- Increased regular meeting attendance.
- 15 members on the member roster
- Broadened membership to include additional agencies and community lactation support.
